I have been using a CanoScan LiDE 110 scanner for some time without any issues, when I suddenly started getting the dreaded “Canon MP Navigator EX has stopped working”.
The problem in this case: the “Box Sync” software from Box.net I had installed recently has incompatible components.
The solution:
Run regedit, and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers.
Delete the keys with “000BoxDesktop” in the name.
Problem solved!
